Introducing the Mobiderm Method of Treatment

What Is Mobiderm?

Developed by Thuasne, Mobiderm lymphedema products represent a complete care system that is used for treating lymphedema and various types of edema, including post-op swelling and trauma. Comprised of open-cell foam in an adhesive non-woven fabric, Mobiderm provides a unique active bandaging system that can be used for the treatment of lymphedema, edema and other forms of edematous conditions. Easy to apply and comfortable to wear, Mobiderm helps to rapidly reduce volume and soften tissues.

How Does Mobiderm Work?

The unique open-cell foam structure of Mobiderm is the key to it's success. The foam cubes contained within the structure of Mobiderm create pressure differentials between the bandaging material and the surrounding affected area. When combined with muscle movement, a "sheer effect" is created in the subcutaneous tissues, caused by the simultaneous movement of the foam cubes across and against the affected area, stimulating the lymphatic vessels which helps remove lymphatic load. In short, Mobiderm works by:

  • Stimulates the lymphatic vessels to remove lymphatic load.
  • Activates initial lymphatic vessels to reduce rebound of lymphatic fluid.
  • Reduces filtration.
  • Softens fibrosis.

How Is Mobiderm Unique?

While most lymphedema products provide compression that reduces the volume of lymphatic fluid filtration, Mobiderm stimulates lymphatics to help remove lymph fluid load, as well as provide reduction of lymphatic fluid filtration.

What Different Types Of Mobiderm Are Available?

There are several different types of Mobiderm products that can be used for effective treatment, depending on your particular individual needs.

Mobiderm Mobilizing Foam Bandages

Mobiderm mobilizing foam bandages for lymphedema are an innovative lymphedema product that was developed for use under compression bandages during the reduction phase of lymphedema treatment. Designed with open cell foam cubes that are encased in a non-woven bandage, Mobiderm foam bandages utilize a pressure difference that is created between the cubes and surrounding area to help stimulate lymphatic flow and optimize lymph drainage efficacy.

Mobiderm Foam Pads

Made from small capsules of compressible material, Mobiderm foam pads were designed and developed to play an important role in compression bandaging. These unique foam pads help evenly distribute the gradient pressure of stretch bandages, cushion limbs and bony areas, and prevent skin irritation. Available in small foam block design (works well for smaller areas, such as hands, feet, and breasts) as well as in large foam block design (works well for larger areas, such as arms and legs)
